Desired performance should dictate your upgrade path, not herd mentality.

We offer tier one parts, nothing else.  From inception, our mission has always been to identify and sell the most exceptional part in each product category.  For a part to achieve that, it must meet very specific criteria – back up their performance claims, excel against the competition and be of exceptional value.  If that product doesn’t exist, we will develop it (refrence our sister site: ITB’s, drysump, stroker kits and more)

Seems easy, right? It’s not. We have spent countless hours researching, testing, developing, sourcing, procuring and any other “ing” you can think of. Our efforts yielded invaluable data that solidified our product selections.

Simply put, if we know what the best product is, why would we sell anything else?

We intend to service our customers via one on one consultative approach to make sure your goals are met.  Please reach out to us here with your goals and then allow us to communicate with you to confirm the right plan for you.

Our limited portfolio is by design

If we know what offers the best performance per dollar, why sell anything else?  This allows us to provide better support, get replacement parts quickly and have an intimate knowledge about our products that other vendors simply can’t match.

Cheapest isn’t always the most cost effective

If you need to buy a part twice because it didn’t fit, perform or work then you will end up spending more money in the long run.  The products we champion are known for their quality, reliability & performance.  Even though their price point is above average their long term costs are typically lowest in the industry.

We are experts in what we sell

When deciding which products to carry we vetted all tier 1 competitors in a product segment.  The knowledge gained through that research yields tremendous return when you have questions for us.

dynamic improvements

WHEELS

In our opinion, wheels are the first and most important performance improvement.  A car can only stop or corner as fast as the contact patch and tire friction will allow.  Increasing wheel width is the best way to increase the contact patch maximizing mechanical grip.  Mechanical grip improves corning and braking at both low and high speeds where aero primarily helps at higher speeds.  Every 1” of wheel width you can add, you generally can reduce lap times by 1 second per 1 min of track time.  Note the GT3 Cup has 10.5/12” wide wheels front and rear and the much faster 911 R and RSR have 12.5/13” wide wheels front and rear.

Additionally, saving wheel weight is another significant performance potential.  our optimized designs or even magnesium material options can save 10-30% vs most OEM wheels.  Wheels are rotational weight and require more force to accelerate and decelerate vs static chassis weight.  Removing 1 lb or kg on a wheel is similar to removing 4-5 times as much static weight providing a measured improvement in acceleration and braking.  Wheels are also unsprung weight which noticeably effects the dynamics of the car.  Less weight the suspension has to move during compression and rebound improving grip, braking and handling in dynamic situations.

SUSPENSION

Suspension is probably the next most important modification you can make.  Controlling cars dynamics is an art and something that is overlooked.  Ohlins is the industry leader in racing suspension, they have won more National and World racing championships across GT, Endurance, Rally, Touring and Motorcycle than any other manufacture.  Ohlins in unquestionably the best in high performance motorcycle suspension manufacture.  If you can control a two-wheel vehicle better, then 4 wheels should be easy.  Additionally, focusing on aluminum construction provides significant weight reduction vs steel dampers from other European manufactures and improves heat distribution and dampening oil cooling.  We have found the Ohlins quality is to be exceptional as we have never had one quality problem.  In S2000 market, several European brands are known to have a relatively high number of leaking shocks out of the box, if not within a few thousand miles.  Finally, the Ohlins manufacturing tolerance are so good they drive ultra-low wear and every time we have a customer send in a Ohlins shock for rebuild, it looks new on the inside and didn’t need servicing.

BRAKES

After wheels and suspension, brakes are the next most important modification.  Not only are brakes critical to safety but are a large opportunity to reduce lap times on track.  Braking as late as possible, means more time at higher speeds.  However, you have to do that consistently, lap after lap.  Brakes have to be able to shed heat quickly as well as operate safely at elevated temperatures.  Even with name brand OEM systems, there are many comprises made due to cost or comfort, leading to weaknesses in the braking system.  AP Racing has made a weight, strength and cooling optimized caliper line called Radi-Cal.  Typically, those goals can create compromises between each other, but the Radi-Cal has delivered on all 3 performance improvements.

GT4  |  GT3  |  GT3RS  |  GT2  |  GT2RS

Porsche GT cars set lap records and win performance car of the year awards.  The GT3 is arguably the greatest all around sports car on the planet.  It may not be the best in any one metric, but overall performance, driver experience and value, it’s hands down the best.  For a few people that would argue it’s the best would likely choose the GT4 or GT2.  So, how do you improve the best?  As we mentioned above, wheels can certainly be an opportunity.  Not everyone may have chosen the Magnesium wheels on their GT cars and we can offer the light weighting and dampening of magnesium at half the cost.  If your GT car does have magnesium wheels, we can improve your mechanic grip and ability to corner at any speed, accelerate earlier and brake later by increasing your wheel width by 1” or more.  By collaborating on your wheel clearances, we can find that extra inch that is worth seconds on track.

Additionally, as good as the GT cars balance is, many track enthusiasts have proven there is opportunity for improvement and Ohlins TTX is what most GT teams use on track.  The Twin Tube technology provides the purest damping on the planet as it uses a solid piston and moves oil through remote adjustments.  This provides compression and rebound adjustments that don’t affect each other and lowers hysteresis, meaning the ability to control your car at that moment and not have the previous response limit the current response needed.  Not only will TTX improve control on track, but their adjustment ranges also leads to more comfort on the street.

Finally, AP Racing Radical brakes, will improve your caliper reliability via more durable and heat resistance parts as well as braking feel with the stiffest calipers in the market.  Every mm your caliper flexes takes away braking feel.  Additionally, moving to steel rotors controls maintenance cost while improving braking feel as ceramics can be difficult to modulate, all while having similar rotor weight with a properly designed system.

911 | Cayman | Boxster

For 911s, Boxsters and Caymans not quite looking that all out track package but better dynamics on the street, we would recommend our Aluminum Grip wheels and Ohlins DFVs.  Our Al Grip wheels should save 2-5 lbs per corner depending on your OEM wheels providing a noticeable weight savings.  Again, this will be equivalent to 40-80 lbs of static weight improving acceleration, corning and braking.  Additionally, we feel that we can add at least 1” of wheel width, widening contact patch or allowing you to run 10-20mm wider tiers improving mechanical grip.  This will noticeably improve the cars responsiveness and corning at lower and higher speeds.

The Ohlins DFVs provide a best of both worlds’ improvement in comfort and performance handling.  The DFV valving is actually a 3rd super high-speed oil path (on top of the stander low and high-speed paths) that act like a 2 way blow off valve.  This provides the benefit of improving comfort over potholes and other obstacles as it opens the damper oil to move freely around the valving allowing the wheel to move up and down quickly.  Other shocks either cannot not compress quickly because they don’t have a blow off valve or ones that do have a one way blow off value cannot rebound quickly and simply can move back down causing the car to crash back to the ground.  Even with stiffer springs than OEM, the dual flow super high-speed oil path provides more comfort than OEM as the dampening and not the Spring that provides harshness.

The Dual Flow Valve has a performance benefit as it keeps the wheel on the ground in more high-speed situations improving stability.  Imagine hitting a bump or dip at high speed, if your suspension cannot allow the wheel to move up and down quickly then you will momentarily loose tire contact and the car will have temporary loss of grip.  This will feel like a twitch or snap providing some white knuckling.  We have dozens of reviews on other cars calling out the high-speed stability with improved comfort with many of our customers upgrading from other popular European shocks.

Overall I’m very happy with the DFV’s and excited to see how hard the car can be pushed this season. Urge has been a great to work with throughout the process and are an extremely knowledgeable group of people.

I’m still totally blown away by this suspension, and am still doing very well against my fellow autocrossers. I went to an autocross on Sunday where there were 5 nationally competitive STR guys. The top times were all close, but I still managed FTD.
